Beihang University (Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, BUAA) is a national key research university in Beijing and the first university in China focused on aeronautics and astronautics. Founded in 1952, it is a member of the Double First-Class initiative and today covers engineering, science, management, liberal arts, law, economics, philosophy, education and medicine, with leading strength in aerospace, instrumentation, materials, software, control, computing, mechanics, transportation and biomedical engineering.

Beihang has three campuses: Xueyuan Road and Shahe in Beijing, and the Hangzhou International Campus. International students are admitted by the International School to bachelor, foundation, master and doctoral programs taught in Chinese and English, as well as to Chinese language courses. The university offers about 50 English-taught master majors and more than 200 English-taught courses.

Application timeline (2027 intake)

Bachelor studies start in August or September 2027; pre-admission is announced in batches in March, April and June.

Fees

• Application fee: 400 RMB (or 70 USD by bank transfer), non-refundable.
• Comprehensive medical and accident insurance: 800 RMB per year (bachelor students buy a four-year policy of 3,200 RMB at registration).
• Language requirements: HSK 5 with at least 180 points for Chinese-taught programs; for English-taught programs TOEFL 90 or IELTS 6.0 (master and PhD also accept Duolingo 105).

Beihang has three campuses with a total area of about 4,000 acres: Xueyuan Road Campus and Shahe Campus in Beijing, and the Hangzhou International Campus. The garden-style campus has been named one of the «Top Ten Beautiful Campuses» of Beijing universities.

International students live in Building 10, Dayuncun on the Xueyuan Road Campus and in Apartment 11 on the Shahe Campus, depending on their school. Rooms have beds, desks, chairs, closets, air conditioning, wireless Internet and private bathrooms, and dormitory staff manage daily life and cleaning.

Accommodation fees (double rooms)

• Rooms must be booked in advance; the booking method is announced after official admission.
• The fee depends on the actual room at registration and does not include utilities.
• Chinese language students who apply late arrange their own housing.

Beihang offers Chinese Government, Beijing Government and university scholarships. Scholarship application forms are submitted together with the admission documents in the online system; otherwise the applicant is not considered.

Bachelor scholarships (2027 intake)

• Deadline for Beihang and Beijing bachelor scholarships: May 30, 2027.

Chinese Government Scholarship, High-level Postgraduate Program (Type B)

• Apply in both the CSC system (Type B, Beihang agency number 10006) and the Beihang system with a supervisor acceptance letter.
• Deadlines: December 10, 2026; January 10, 2027; February 28, 2027.
• Applicants with HSK 3–4 can choose a one-year Chinese language course before a Chinese-taught degree and must reach HSK 5 with 180 points.
• Travel costs are not covered; the major and supervisor cannot be changed.
