Ningbo University (NBU) is a key public university of Zhejiang Province and one of the universities in the National "Double First-Class" Initiative. Located in the coastal city of Ningbo — a major economic and port hub in China, just 2 hours from Shanghai — NBU was founded in 1986 with support from Hong Kong shipping magnate Sir Yue-Kong Pao.
The university comprises 26 schools, 6 affiliated hospitals, 59 undergraduate programs, 63 master's programs and 14 doctoral programs. 14 disciplines have entered the top 1% of ESI globally. Mechanics has been selected as a national "Double First-Class" discipline, while Fisheries is designated as a provincial peak discipline. Ningbo University has two modern campuses in the city of Ningbo. The main Jiangbei Campus is located at No. 818 Fenghua Road and hosts the majority of international students.
The second Meishan Campus specializes in marine sciences, logistics and food engineering programs. The campus grounds blend classical Chinese architecture with contemporary academic buildings. Everything needed for comfortable study and life is available on site: a library with 500,000 volumes, over 50 research laboratories, a teaching hospital with 2,000 beds, high-speed Wi-Fi across the entire campus and classrooms equipped with interactive technology.
International students can choose from three comfortable residence halls located on campus. Yangguang International Students Apartment is a modern residential complex offering single and double rooms. A single room costs CNY 1,200 per month, while a double room is CNY 900 per person. Wong Chingmao International Student Dormitory (Yong-Jiang Hall) offers a convenient fixed annual rate of CNY 4,000 for a double room. Located within walking distance of academic buildings.
