Renmin University of China (RUC) is a leading national research university in Beijing and China's top university in the humanities and social sciences. It traces its origins to Shaanbei Public School, founded in 1937, and was established as the first new-type regular university created by the Communist Party of China. RUC has been on every list of national key universities since 1950 and was among the first universities in Project 985, Project 211 and the Double First-Class initiative.
RUC is strongest in economics, finance, law, journalism, public administration, philosophy, history, sociology, international relations and Marxist theory. International students study at the Zhongguancun campus in Haidian, the Tongzhou campus in eastern Beijing and the Suzhou campus. As of May 2025, RUC had partnerships with 316 universities and international organizations in 63 countries and regions.

RUC offers on-campus single and double rooms for new international students. Living conditions and the booking procedure are described in the Room Reservation Form sent before enrollment.
RUC international students can apply for Chinese Government, Beijing Government and language scholarships. Scholarship rules depend on the program.

RUC grew out of schools founded during the War of Resistance against Japan and became the first new-type regular university of the People's Republic of China.
