CUHK is a research-oriented comprehensive university founded in 1963, guided by a mission to combine tradition with modernity and to bring together China and the West. It is Hong Kong's second-oldest university and the only collegiate university in the territory, organised into nine constituent colleges and eight academic faculties.

Campus & Location CUHK is located in the suburban setting of Sha Tin, in the New Territories of Hong Kong. CUHK was also the first Hong Kong university to establish a campus in Shenzhen, China, doing so in 2014.
Library The university library system has one of Hong Kong's most comprehensive collections, with 24-hour computing labs and an Independent Learning Centre for improving Chinese and English proficiency.
Student Life & Facilities CUHK offers sports facilities including stadiums, gymnasia, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, fitness rooms, and a water sports centre. There are over 30 canteens and eateries on campus. The campus also features an art museum, a medical centre, and state-of-the-art academic buildings set against scenic views of Tolo Harbour.
Accommodation Over 50% of CUHK undergraduates reside in more than 20 hostels of the Colleges. Together with six postgraduate halls, the university offers over 10,000 hostel places to students.
Technology & Connectivity The entire campus — including teaching blocks, student hostels, and administrative buildings — is connected to the University Campus Backbone Network through high-speed connections of up to 100Gbps
