PolyU is one of Hong Kong's leading universities with an applied focus: engineering, business, health care, design, fashion and hospitality. Bachelor's programs take 4 years (nursing and optometry — 5 years); applicants enter a faculty scheme or a specific major and may choose up to 2 programs.

PolyU's main campus is in Hung Hom, Kowloon, next to Hung Hom MTR station and the cross-harbour tunnel to Hong Kong Island. Teaching, library, labs and residences are on one site in the city centre.
For health and social programs (Nursing, Social Work, Speech Therapy) placements are in Hong Kong clinics — Cantonese is an advantage.
University accommodation for non-local students is normally provided for the first year. From year 2 students arrange their own housing.
