These are lower boundaries — admitted scores are usually higher. Engineering and science require Mathematics and Biology, Chemistry or Physics; business and economics require Mathematics; Pharmacy — Chemistry; Medicine — Biology or Chemistry. Many programmes interview; architecture and design require a portfolio.

HKU's main campus is in Pok Fu Lam on Hong Kong Island, on a hillside above Sai Ying Pun next to HKU MTR station. The historic 1912 Main Building stands alongside the modern Centennial Campus, with libraries, labs, a sports centre and residential halls.
HKU has 17 residential halls and colleges and non-hall housing in three residential areas close to the University.

Hall life is a strong HKU tradition with its own communities, sports and events, and local and international students living together.
Most scholarships are awarded automatically on admission results — no separate application. Applying by November 25, 2026 improves the chances.
