Design and Fine Arts are open only in round 1 of bachelor's admission; the Tsinghua-CUHK dual degree in Economics is open only in round 2. Admitted bachelor's students receive their admission documents in June 2027; registration is normally held in late August or early September. Tsinghua's winter break runs from January 21 to February 17, 2027, so graduate applications should be completed 2 to 3 weeks before the deadline.

Bachelor's applicants also submit transcripts and may add national exam certificates, international test results (CSCA, SAT, ACT, A-Level, AP, IB) and olympiad awards. All divisions require strong mathematics and English; most science and engineering programs also require high school physics. Applicants who pass document screening take a Comprehensive Assessment; Arts and Architecture applicants submit a portfolio.

The Tsinghua campus lies on the site of Qinghuayuan in northwest Beijing, a former royal garden of the Qing Dynasty. Some of Beijing's most famous historic sites, such as the Summer Palace and the Yuanmingyuan Imperial Garden, are nearby.
International students on the Beijing campus live in the Zijing International Student Apartments, which offer double and triple rooms.

From the second to the fourth year, students can apply for other scholarships, including the Beijing Government Scholarship, based on their performance. Freshmen scholarships of the same type cannot be combined.
